There are butterflies in my skull, A brewing storm of silken wings As they emerge one by one from their cocoons – The crepuscular hulls in which they spend most of their days, Tenebrous prisons hanging from the emaciated branches Of the forlorn, termite-infested neural tree. One Winter Sky - a Spenserian Sonnet

The sky is white like bones of birds alight, The sun obscured by legions of pale wings. They crow like banshees to send the wind in flight; The prickling frost past autumn is what they bring. A ghostly clarion their throats do sing; This anthem tears through the burgundy leaves. Cadaverous canvas of colors rings With spectral narration as forest grieves Anemic sky and crackling bones of trees; Ochre and umber paint the sallow air. The sun beats through the pallid and it weaves A livid sight that pains the eyes that stare. All that is living at some point must die, Beneath lurid glares from a bird-boned sky.

MEET MY NEW BABY!!!

Meet the new addition to the family. <3 He is a Savannah monitor lizard.  Haven't quite decided on a name for him yet, so any suggestions in the comments would be awesome!  Current name ideas include Aldiun DESTROYER OF WORLDS, Paarthurnax, Daedalus, or something referential to a dragon or a mosasaurus. This last weekend I helped my mom with her booth at the Czech arts and crafts festival in Caldwell, TX.  And at this festival was a booth selling reptiles, including $40 Savannah monitors.  For that price, I was like AWYISS I NEED DIS.  So I came home with this guy. ^_^ I am not sure how to tell what gender it is yet, actually, and the b
